Samsung has announced that two models in its much-anticipated Galaxy A-Series range, the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5, will be coming to the UK from February 12. The Galaxy A-Series represents Samsung’s new commitment to quality design, as each phone is clad in an all-metal bodyshell - these are also the thinnest smartphones Samsung has brought to market.
The phones will arrive with UK retailers and networks, including Carphone Warehouse, EE, and O2, as well as the phone-maker’s own Samsung Experience Stores. Samsung has not yet revealed pricing, but promises that these phones will be “affordable”, which to be fair they probably will be - this is the follow-up batch to the metal-framed Galaxy Alpha, which didn’t cost a fortune and had fairly mid-range specs; a neat little middle ground of sensible compromises.
The Samsung Galaxy A3 is the smaller of the pair with a 4.5in Super AMOLED display and a bodyshell measuring 130.1 x 65.5 x 6.9mm - it also weighs a mere 110.3g and has a 65.5% screen-to-body ratio. The display resolution is qHD - that’s 960 x 540 pixels at 245 pixels-per-inch (ppi). So far so good, not the best display on the market but not too shabby either.
